My images represent an attempt to capture the beauty of everyday life experience – both ordinary and profound. I enjoy the technical aspects of digital photography combined with the creative elements of composition and selecting just the right shot. I’ve always enjoyed photography, having received a camera as a gift when I was 6 yrs old. I cut off most of the heads of people I shot, which was perhaps my way of capturing the unique view point of a small child. More likely, it was a complete and total lack of skill at the time. |
My interest in photography has waxed and waned over the years but recently it has become an all-consuming obsession of mine – a hobby, but one that changed the way I see objects in my daily life.

When I first become serious about learning all the skills necessary to capture every image right the first time – I often ended up spending more time correcting images in my “digital darkroom” then most would imagine. However, this has led me to an interesting conclusion. While many photographers strive to capture their images exactly as the human eye sees them, I have found the power in having to have to create an image out of rough stock into what you remember the image to be. The flexibility provided by digital photography allows me to make “mistakes” and still come up with some very interesting images using all the digital tools at my fingertips in post-processing.
At the same time, as my skills have grown, I have better been able to get it right - the first time -, and as such, spend more time out shooting. However, those skills I learned in post-processing enable me to make even more powerful images out of exposures that need little correcting otherwise.
